Art Instruction Schools is accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission. The Distance Education Accrediting Commission is listed by the US Department of Education as a recognized accrediting agency.

What is the Distance Education Accrediting Commission? The Distance Education Accrediting Commission was founded in 1955 to establish high educational, ethical, and business standards for institutions teaching subjects through distance education. After careful examination and evaluation, only those institutions which meet these high standards are granted accreditation. Today, more than 3 million Americans are enrolled in DEAC accredited institutions. It is estimated that since 1890, some 130 million Americans have taken distance education courses. The DEAC is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) as a national institutional accrediting organization for postsecondary distance education institutions that offer programs primarily by the distance education method from the non-degree level up to and including the professional doctoral degree.

CHEA was formed in 1996 by presidents of U.S. colleges and universities to strengthen higher education through strengthened accreditation processes. It promotes academic quality through formal recognition of higher education accrediting bodies and works to advance self-regulation in higher education through accreditation. Recognition by CHEA affirms that the standards, policies and procedures of accrediting organizations meet the academic quality, institutional improvement and accountability expectations CHEA has established. DEAC first received recognition by CHEA in 2001. It received its most recent grant of recognition from CHEA in 2013.

American Council on Education


The American Council on Education’s College Credit Recommendation Service (ACE CREDIT) evaluated and recommended college credit for the Fundamentals of Art Program from 1/1/1978 – 10/31/2015. The American Council on Education, the major coordinating body for all the nation’s higher education institutions, seeks to provide leadership and a unifying voice on key higher education issues and to influence public policy through advocacy, research, and program initiatives.

Art Instruction Schools is authorized for operation as a postsecondary educational institution by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission. Credits earned at Art Instruction Schools may not transfer to another educational institution. Credits earned at another educational institution may not be accepted by Art Instruction Schools. You should obtain confirmation that Art Instruction Schools will accept any credits you have earned at another educational institution before you execute an enrollment contract or agreement. You should also contact any educational institutions that you may want to transfer credits earned at Art Instruction Schools to determine if such institutions will accept credits earned at Art Instruction Schools prior to executing an enrollment contract or agreement. The ability to transfer credits from Art Instruction Schools to another educational institution may be very limited. Your credits may not transfer and you may have to repeat courses previously taken at Art Instruction Schools if you enroll in another educational institution.
